The event is a part of KEEN’s Live Monumental Campaign to raise awareness for preserving public lands and have fun while doing it.

On July 29, KEEN’s renovated ’70s RV hit the road for a two-month cross-country trip with two goals: raising awareness for preserving public lands and celebrating the places we play. Live Monumental is a national campaign to rally support for the protection of places where millions of people play. As part of this campaign, KEEN aims to collect more than 100,000 signatures on a petition to demonstrate massive support from around the country for the designation of five new national monuments, including one for the Owyhee. The KEEN team will personally deliver the signatures in Washington, DC in September on a giant scroll to encourage the Obama Administration to protect 3 million acres of land for the enjoyment of all. The places highlighted by Live Monumental are: Mojave Desert, CA; Owyhee Canyonlands, OR; Birthplace of Rivers, WV; Boulder-White Clouds, ID; and Gold Butte, NV.
